Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) and Memorial Funds are flexible giving tools for individuals, families, and corporations wishing to support international charitable projects. You receive an immediate tax deduction upon contributing to your Fund and can recommend grants to charitable projects at your convenience.

How Do They Work?  

Opening a Fund account is simple and straightforward, with no setup or legal fees.

 

Ways to Give

You can contribute to your Donor Advised Fund at any time and claim an income tax deduction in the year of the contribution. We accept cash (via credit card, cheque, or bank transfer), gifts of securities, bequests and other planned gifts, life insurance policies, and retirement plan assets. Donors may also transfer funds from existing vehicles such as a private foundation, a community foundation, or another DAF sponsor. You can invite friends and family to contribute, and corporations may donate through their giving programs or corporate foundations.

 

Supporting Charitable Activities  

You may recommend grants to charitable projects at any time (minimum $5,000). Memory Trees conducts due diligence to ensure donations support legitimate charitable purposes. If the recommended organization has not yet been vetted by Memory Trees, a one-time due diligence fee of $750 applies. We can also help to identify initiatives in your preferred country, region, or field of interest.

 

Fee Structure

Memory Trees charges an annual management fee of 0.8% of invested assets to cover Fund administration, due diligence, and operational costs for international charitable work. Thanks to our endowment fund, which covers most operating expenses, we are able to keep this fee low. The management fee does not include bank or brokerage charges for transfers, wires, trade execution, or similar services.
